“Slut-shaming collapses the complexity of another person onto a single dimension. But even more so, given how slut-shaming is used to control and shame all women regardless of their sexual practices or desires, it conflicts directly with respecting them. If you say that you respect women, then you need to respect all women, no matter how many sexual partners she has, her relationship choices, or how she enjoys sex. Otherwise, you’re saying that your respect is something that someone has to buy. I don’t think that that’s really respect at all.” If You Don’t Respect Sluts, You Don’t Respect Women, Charlie Glickman  (via transformfeminism)

No, seriously, why are we teasing people for being good friends instead of dating?

WOW check out all the shaming going on against this woman who gives a shit about another human being!
She appreciates what he does for her. She really does. She loves her friend. And yet?
These people think that’s not okay, or not good enough because she’s not giving him sex to show it. These people think it’s awful just to say “thanks, you’re my best friend” instead of going to bed with the person (with the implication of course being “like a woman should” because “men and women can’t be friends”). This my friends is rape culture in action; making people feel like they are obligated to have sex, and shaming them for their autonomy, is a form of coercion.

WTF? They just state that the boy is not likely to get in a relationship with her. It’s more than sex that belongs to a relationship you know? There is no shaming going on. They’re rather mocking the guy. Just calm down and try not to see everything as sexism…

OH so they’re just teasing a guy for not getting pussy!? WELL that’s so much better!
And yes, there is more to a relationship than sex. He is in a relationship with her as a friend, as we can see. So why is that something to tease?
